digger12

Digger - 3 year old Border Collie cross

Digger our man, is a dog known to us. Digger has spent a few nights here at our “hotel’ as he seems to be on his own a lot touring around Moose Jaw. Digger was always a pleasure to have when he spent the night with us and he really started to wiggle his way into our staff’s heart.

Digger need medical attention that his family couldn’t afford, so we did go ahead and have him looked after. We sent Digger home with his family and hoped that they would provide him with safe housing and exercise. Not long after going home Digger was found again at large checking out the happenings around town. This time his family did not come back for Digger. While we are disappointed that Digger was again at large…. we do feel that he deserves a home that can provide him with all he needs. We are now committed to helping this silly boy find that home.

Digger is now neutered and is working on his k-9 social skills here. He is brushing up on his leash manners and is soaking in all the love that comes his way! Digger is a smart, attentive boy and we know he will showed everyone what's possible with training and determination… a wonderful addition to any family

nutbolt

Nutbolt - 2 year old Pitbull cross

Mr Nutbolt isn’t really new to us. This boy has been in and out of our shelter on a few occasions as a dog at large. His family didn’t provide him with secure housing and structure so he would go off on his own to find himself some fun, but as it turns out he had been looking for love in all the wrong places! We can't really blame this little guy, the nightlife of Moose Jaw can be pretty appealing, especially to a handsome young guy like Nutbolt

The last time we picked up Nutbolt partying it up around town, his family never came back for him. Nutbolt is now looking for a new forever home that will show him that there is no reason to leave home. He will need a family that can provide him with the exercise, structure and love that he needs… and a secured yard would be a bonus!

Nutbolt a highly social darlin,' full of good cheer and always happy to jump in and be part of whatever's going on. If you’re up for a good time, so is Nutbolt.

roman

Roman - 6 year old Chocolate Lab/ Border Collie cross

Our boy Roman has came back to us from his trial, but not from lack of love! This sneaky soul would not stay in his house/run/kennel when left alone. Though his family loved him, they brought him back for his own safety as he was finding his way out into the busy streets too much. Our luck Roman has taken to loving his new digs and has settled in here and doesn’t try to get out nor is he destructive. We believe that this guy just enjoys having us around all the time.

Soft, gentle spirited, loving and oh so sweet, this little magician will put an immediate smile on your face! He's just a pup at heart and this handsome little guy just wants to please you! Roman is a mild mannered man, wanting nothing more than to hang out with his favorite toy and you.

Roman has some existing ear infections that has stemmed from years of no medical attention. He may have to be on ear medication for the rest of his life. We are now looking for a home for Roman where he will have someone around the majority of the time. Roman would fit well into a nice quiet home that is looking for a shadow, a furry shadow that wiggles his bum while carrying his bone in his mouth!

kurt2

Kurt - 13 year old Border collie ( with a fresh new hair cut!)

We would like you to meet Kurt. How Kurt ended up here is a long story. But he is here now, 13 and deaf, Kurt was left with us to home. He is a bit confused and very heartbroken and to be honest we are feeling the same too.

So, here we are, no matter how Kurt ended up with us,we recognise the important place these deserving dogs hold in our hearts and in our community.

He's older and wobbly, and can’t hear us when we are talking to him...but he still looked up at us to see if there was anything he could do to please us. If there was ever a face saying 'please don't leave me,' it's his.

We are looking for a quiet home for Kurt to settle in and receive gentle care until its time to leave this world -and know he will be in the arms of adoring caretakers,

Adopting a senior dog as a compassion hold admittedly it's hard on the heart. The privilege of loving a senior animal makes every single day special. Helping make a dog's last years, the best of its life, is truely gratifying .

If you have room in your heart and home, Kurt will be here ready to win you over!

tonka

Tonka - Young Shepherd Collie cross

This scared boy was found in our porch one morning. Tonka would not come to any of us and has never been on leash or had a collar on. Lucky for this young man helping dogs find their confidence is something that all the staff here is eager to work on.

We started on building a positive, trusting relationship with Tonka right away. Making every approach count for something good, Tonka is starting to get better with us. We know giving a little more time; this boy will continue to shine!  Tonka does seem to see us as a source of confidence and courage; we will let him stay with us for a while longer so we can help this lost soul find his way back.

Tonka will not be up for adoption just yet, but we will take application on him so we can best choose the best forever home for our precious guy.

dukey

Duke - 6 year old Lab cross

Duke is highly intelligent, with an independent spirit combined with a humble desire to please. Duke has a good grasp of basic commands and walks fine on leash. This older fella is a laid boy and an absolute delight!

Duke loves greeting new people with a tail wag and a toy hoping to get them to play a game of fetch with his bone or toy. Duke is k-9 social and enjoys the company of other dogs. Duke does need to be placed in a home without livestock as he has a bad habit of chasing them

Duke is a super sweet, kind hearted lab cross that has such a gentle soul. He is looking for the perfect forever home to win over with his loving heart and goofy personality

How-To Adopt an Animal from the Moose Jaw Humane Society

  • Visit the Shelter during viewing hours to see if we have a pet you might be interested in adopting.
  • Fill out and submit the adoption application form.
  • We suggest that you spend some time with the pet you choose to be sure it is right for you. We provide a private room where you can spend some time visiting with your future pet. If you are considering adopting a dog, you might even decide to take it for a walk.
  • We recommend you bring in all family members to meet your potential pet and to check for compatibility.
  • If you are still unsure if the pet is right for you and your family, you may want to consider a trial period, for the pet to briefly live with you, before you complete the final adoption process.
  • To help you care for your pet, all the veterinary clinics in Moose Jaw and Assiniboia have agreed to provide you with a free vet-check within three working days after adoption. The purpose of this exam is to ensure that the animal is in good health. In the event that a medical problem is found, the owner is given the option to return the pet to the Shelter or keep the pet and pursue any necessary treatments. The vet-check is also a great opportunity to discuss feeding, vaccination requirements, spaying or neutering and so forth.

Click here to download an adoption application.

Once you are certain that you would like to adopt the pet you have selected,
you will need to visit the Shelter to complete the paperwork.
